APRIL 1, 2007:
So i arrived this afternoon to the mountains to round out this TGIA/PV posse! The flight went smooth, but I arrived in West Virginia only to find out my luggage was still in New York. It should arrive tomorrow morning. A night of borrowing lies ahead...
The girls had a great day hiking at Twin Falls. When I caught up with them (post-Dairy Queen!), we drove to Mullens to visit the Itmann Food bank and get a historical account from Rose O'Neil, who ran it for 20+ years. Tomorrow some of us will work there preparing boxes of food for distribution day, while the others visit children at Head Start.
After a hearty dinner of tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, we had a commisioning service to officially name Tiffany, Corinthia, Marilyn, and Luisa as Passionist Volunteers!
It was a beautiful day here, 70 degrees, with trees starting to bud. Jenny, Jill, Rocco, and Bruce are watching the Women's Basketball championship, while the girls are all out on the porch, talking and laughing and listening to the sounds of silence.
Sending peace and love to all...
APRIL 2, 2007:
To be precise, it is now April 3. But I could barely get in at the computer yesterday! It used to be the mark of a well functioning community was the ability to share a bathroom without fighting. An equally true test thses days is sharing a computer! I'm happy to announce that this community - all 9 of us - are sharing the bathroom and computer both respectfully and amicably. Our hats off to Bruca who, as the only guy in the group, is faring quite well, and is a true gentleman. You can come out of the basement now, Bruce.
Ok, because I am lunch-maker for our home repair site today, I will give just a few highlights of yesterday...
1. At the food bank, I ended up folding pajamas and underwear while Marilyn and Corinthia got to bag chocolate! What the...
2. The pickled corncob - this can indeed represent our trip - new experience and sharing it together (7 bite marks in one cob).
3. There is nothing like a hug from 85 yr old Helen Carter. I will carry that in me through the year.
4. My suitcase arrived last night! Thanks for the loan of clothes to tide me over, everyone.
I have so much more to say, but the troops are rising, and I have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to make...
sending peace and love,

As the song promises, the country roads took us home. But no doubt, part of us will always remain in the mountains...
